Nancy Murphree Davis

Biography

Nancy Murphree Davis graduated from Auburn University receiving a BFA. She works in a variety of media including ink and printmaking, but her watercolors are perhaps the most recognizable. She often paints lighthouses, industrial towers, architectural facades, and landscapes with bold shapes or anything with a strong pattern.

She grew up in Troy, Alabama with very little art exposure, but won Best of Show in the state private school association art competition in 6th grade for a large acrylic painting of oranges that she did in a summer class. After college, she married an Air Force officer and has lived all over the United States, including California, North Dakota, Texas, Florida and New Mexico. Her artwork is often based on photos she has taken seeing the sights in these many locations. Nancy and her husband moved to Pensacola in 2018 upon his retirement.

Nancy has received many awards including Best of Show in The Florida Keys Watercolor Society 2018 Show, The Pintores Art League Spring Fling, The Arlington Artists Alliance Washington Color School Show. Her works are in the permanent collection of Arlington County, Virginia and in numerous private collections throughout the United States and overseas.
