Durand Seay
Escapes from traditions that label artists by being a Deep-South artist. Like the fluidity of waves, his paintings are flowing and unpredictable. Connections to the soul, the driving force, fuels his initiative for creating.
Time and movement are essential factors affecting the participant. As an architect, Seay builds these expressions from structures intuitively found in nature. The viewer’s subconscious finds intent towards awareness, insight, achievement and the ascendancy of understanding. Examples of his symbols are horses for freedom, blue roosters for vigilance, and dancers representing human emotions.
His work has been exhibited in numerous juried exhibitions all over the southeast since 1978, and has received multiple awards. Other galleries include Lion Share Gallery, Fairhope, Alabama, Stonehenge Gallery, Montgomery, Alabama, and Gallery Veronique, Cincinnati, Ohio.
