Robert Towson
Biography
I arrived in Pensacola in 1979 as a Navy Illustrator/Draftsman attached to the EW school at Corey Station. Prior to that I studied at Murray State University (Ky) in their BFA program. After leaving the Navy, worked as the fashion illustrator for the Gayfers Group in Pensacola, then advertising artist at the Pensacola News Journal.
Started freelancing as an airbrush artist, painting everything from t-shirts to motor homes, custom cars and motorcycles- while doing contract t-shirt design for companies from Disney to Chuck E Cheese.
Local and regional awards include the winning design for 2000 GGC Arts festival poster/ Pensacola Jazz Fest 2001, 2003, 2005/ and Gulf Shores National Shrimp Festival 2013,15,19. In 2011 my painting THE WOUNDED, was juried into America’s top 100. My work is in many private and corporate collections, including a 12’X5’ mural on Belgian linen commissioned by the Wind Creek Casino Resort.
