Registration is limited to the first 30 applicants. Applicants must complete the registration form below and payments must be received by March 24, 2023 for the Early Bird rate.
The Paint Out event will take place Thursday-Saturday, March 30 – April1, 2023, at Quayside Art Gallery in Pensacola, Florida and is open to any 2-D artist. The Quick Draw event will be held Saturday, April 1 (rain date Sunday, April 2). All participants in either event must sign the Warranty/Liability Statement agreement. If a participant is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian over 18 should sign for the participant. There will be a reception for the public on Sunday, April 2, 2023, where art painted during the Paint-Out will be available for purchase. Registration is limited to the first 30 artists to register.
General Paint Out Rules – March 30-April 1, 2023
Check-in for the Paint Out will begin at 9am on Thursday, March 30, in the East Gallery of Quayside Gallery. During check-in, artists may have multiple painting surfaces stamped for use during the event.
Bonus: Participating artists are invited to bring in two previously painted plein air works on Monday, March 27 to be displayed until replaced by their work created during the Plein Air event. These will not be included in any judging.
Works must be painted in the Pensacola area (including Pensacola Beach) during the time-frame of the event, in any 2-D medium (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, etc.).
Paintings may be brought in for hanging by Saturday evening on April 1, by 5pm. A wet area will be provided. Paintings should be framed prior to submission for hanging and judging. Only two paintings may be submitted for judging. Quayside personnel will be responsible for hanging the paintings in the judging area.
Judging will take place on Sunday morning. A reception will be held from 2:30pm-4:30pm Sunday afternoon. Awards will be presented at 3pm.
If a painting is purchased during the event, and the purchaser wants to take the painting immediately, it is the responsibility of the artist to make sure the painting is packaged appropriately for transport. Packing materials will be available. Art produced during the Paint-Out will be available through Quayside Gallery until April 15, 2023. Please note: Artists will receive 65% on the sale of any artwork during the exhibition. Quayside Gallery will receive a 35% commission and submit required sales tax on behalf of the artist.
Quick Draw Rules – Saturday, April 1, 2023 – (Rain Date Sunday, April 2, 2023)
Check-in for the Quick Draw will begin at 8am on April 1 in the East Gallery of Quayside Gallery. Artists may have multiple painting surfaces stamped, however, only one may be submitted for judging. You may use a surface that was stamped for the general Paint Out, but Quick Draw entries will receive a unique stamp.
Works must be painted within the downtown Pensacola area boundary posted on the Event Map. Paintings may be in any 2-D medium (oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, etc.), but must be completed on a stamped surface.
Painting time will be from 9am until 12noon. Completed paintings must be returned to Quayside Gallery no later than 12:30pm for judging. Paintings may be presented unframed on an easel. Framing is optional for the Quick Draw.
Quick Draw Schedule
8am – 9am – Check in and painting surface stamping at Quayside Gallery.
9am – 12 noon – Paint! Make sure to paint within the designated boundaries for the Quick Draw!
12noon – 1230pm – Return artwork to Quayside Gallery and set easel in designated area for judging
1230pm – 1pm – Judging
1pm – Awards announced and prizes presented
1:15pm – Quick Draw Art will be available for sale to the public through Quayside Gallery.
