Carol Young

Carol began painting in watercolors sixteen years ago, using a wet-into wet technique to create lovely, award-winning landscapes and florals.

In the last few years she has moved into making collages, and painting in acrylics in bolder, more expressive colors, learning from national instructors, such as collage and design artist Gerald Brommer, as well as from the many classes and workshops given by local award-winning artists Pat Regan, Valerie Aune and Joan Blackburn.

Carol’s abstract acrylics are full of deep color and strong emotion, as can be seen in  a recent impressionistic work, “In the Midst of the Storm.” This seascape was influenced by her roots in California, where she grew up camping along its rugged coast. Other paintings have been inspired by the the Gulf Coast, Smokey Mountains and her many stays in England and France. As she paints the landscapes she loves, she hopes her impressions of their beauty will resonate with the viewer.
