Artist Bill Atkinson is originally from Rhode Island and was introduced to aviation at an early age by his father, a career USAF pilot. Bill’s passion for flying eventually led to a 23-year career as a U.S. Army Aviator. He completed two combat tours in Vietnam and has also served in numerous flying assignments throughout Europe, the United States and Korea. He earned a B.S. degree from Auburn University and an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
In 1990 he tried his hand at oil painting and found the medium to be both enjoyable and relaxing. Primarily a self-taught artist, he has since studied oil painting with award winning artist Marion Weston and a workshop with world renowned aviation artist, Keith Ferris. He is an Artist Member of the American Society of Aviation Artist, Pensacola Artist, Inc., The Tuesday Group Original art and prints can be viewed at Quayside Art Gallery, Pensacola, FL; the U.S. Army Aviation Museum, Fort Rucker, AL; the U.S. Army Transportation Museum, Fort Eustis, VA; and El Paso International Airport.
